Do you ever intend to do a video version of the tutorial?

I still got the raw footage in my pc but I need to do some cutting in it and speed it up in some places to not make it that long

Interesting how the different forms of coloring Technics can change the tone or kind of theme of character. The brown and white gradient map almost looks like a historic photo. the Bottom color version with pink outline arround the eyes makes her look like a possessed woman or evil demented woman or something. Then the darker version with the pale face looks like she belongings in the Haunted Mansion. Then the pale white version makes her look like a ghost.

wow, your shading has a lot of steps
My shading can't even be described as having distinct steps, I just put dark where I feel like there needs to be dark lol

in all honesty i only used to the fullest in 2 pieces, the starbomb samus joke and in the Kizuna Ai pic, i can't deny the "depth" this adds but in my case it takes too much time D:

i do however still lack the understanding of gradientmaps :3

Hehe I did notice some of it! Every method you are not used to takes time to handle, but I have to say that my workflow isn't the fastest for sure, I should change allot about

Gradiemaps are adjustment layers that replaces the greyscale values with the colors chosen in the map, so if you want a certain time of gray to be pink it will, I wish I had the ability or a video to be clearer but I bet there is something outhere, and really it's not that important to know, being independent of them and using a whole other method is an option too, no matter what you do the end result is what matters in my opinion

For sure! Are there any things that'd help in building up to this? Or is it better to get right in at the deep end?

I'm not sure if I follow but , if you meant i there is something before this I think just general practice of art fundamentals like light and form will be good

Ahh, I had just figured that while this IS helpful, it just seems rather... Advanced? I was curious as to if there were more basic techniques.

These do tell me how to color better and how in depth your method is, but that's not what's REALLY important
What's REALLY important is this allows me to fave your Doll pic like a dozen times :y

I love your art not only because of the amazingly soft girls you draw, it's the details you put into your art, like your shading, coloring and such.

You really have a hand for that. c:
